Construction of deep wells, each of which is between 60 – 100 m deep. This means there is enough water for drinking, cooking and watering the animals
VEGETABLE GARDEN
Planting vegetable gardens ensures a varied diet. Cultivated are: Onions, tomatoes, beans, corn and much more.
CONTAINER
A container with relief supplies and donations is shipped at regular intervals. This usually includes bicycles, teaching materials, furniture, IT equipment, etc.
Schools
Construction of elementary school and colleges to give the villagers (children and adults) access to education.
A few years ago, we decided to pool our entire donation budget and use it for a project in Burkina Faso. Burkina Faso is located in West Africa and is one of the five poorest countries in the world.
In 2012, Managing Partner Horst Walz was in Burkina Faso and found a situation that he would never have thought possible. After his return, he decided to help the local people and founded the association “Hilfe für Burkina Faso e. V.”. The association, whose motto is “Helping people to help themselves”, implements projects in the Kaya region in the following order: water supply, agriculture, school education, vocational training, energy supply and healthcare.
The first project site, the village of Gofila, is located in the southern foothills of the Sahel. The village is about 20 km from the provincial town of Kaya and has three months of rainy season and nine months of drought. Around 5,000 people live there, of which around 60% are under the age of 16.
The first project, the construction of six deep wells in Gofila, was realized in 2013. This was followed by vegetable gardens, containers with relief supplies, a six-grade elementary school and a college (secondary school) with an off-grid solar system. The electricity generated makes evening classes for adults possible.
